Youth Ambassador Program promotes mental wellbeing of the mentally-ill parents, their children and family members. It was a 10-session program, which comprised of 5 in-door activities and 5 outings. Meanwhile, a 5-session parallel group (1.5 hours for each session) was tailor-made for YA parents to enhance stress coping skills through the mindfulness practice so as to promote positive parenting. aims to promote mental well being to mentally-ill parents, their children and their family members. Family focused approach is adopted for the Program.
Objectives
For Children (Youth Ambassador)
- To foster and strengthen a positive parent-child interaction;
- To enhance knowledge of mental health
- To equip them with coping skills towards life adversity
- To explore and develop their strengths
For Parents with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) and Other Family Members
- To foster and strengthen a positive parent-child interaction
- To enhance the coping strategy to resolve conflicts with children
- To enhance their mental well-being
For Volunteers
- To increase their understanding of people with SMI
- To instill knowledge of mental health
- To enhance their mental well-being
