「I have a story to tell」Background and Introduction
In Hong Kong, one of every seven people are affected by mood disorders. Unfortunately, stereotypes and misunderstandings of mood disorders are common in our society, and therefore causing negativity and criticism towards people with mood disorders. We also found that discrimination and stigma often delay individuals and families who are affected by mood disorders to seek help, moreover, support for their rehabilitation process is inadequate and limited.
We are hoping through the campaign of “I have a story to tell”, we can encourage people in recovery from mood disorders to share their personal experiences through social media. Together we can create a social movement to encourage and motivate people with or without emotional issues to discuss their concerns, to support each others and to seek help.
This meaningful campaign is greatly supported by a famous female artist – Ms. Lee San San. She will take the lead to share her recovery story on social media, Facebook and Instagram. With her encouragement, we hope you can do the same by sharing your own story. Every “like” and “share” on social media also represent your support to people with mood disorders and their families. Let’s search for #ihaveastorytotell and tell us your story now!
